Transforming how we travel in and around Oxford
The plan involves a number of different interventions which together will transform how we travel to and from the city.
The proposals were first suggested in 2019 and aim to provide practical, pleasant and efficient alternatives to using a car for short journeys, to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality for all.
High quality, new infrastructure will enable more walking and cycling, while new improved bus routes will help reduce congestion. Traffic will flow faster. Air quality will improve.
Work on aspects of the Connecting Oxford plan has already started, and will need further input and consultation as the project progresses. The aim is to have the key aspects of the schemes, the Workplace Parking Levy and Traffic Filters, in place from 2023.
